The RCMP says the 9-1-1 caller who spotted the unoccupied boat, and the quick response by the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre made all the difference in Tuesday’s dramatic water rescue in Malpeque Bay.
The boat-in-distress call came in at about 11am. Rescuers spotted a 29-year old Lennox Island man in the water and hoisted him to a helicopter. He was taken to hospital to be checked out.
The man said he’d been fishing by himself when a large wave knocked him overboard.
