Island shellfish growers have received government funding to help improve product quality and quantity.
Over $732-thousand is coming from the Atlantic Fisheries Fund to help eight shellfish farms on PEI.
PEI Fisheries Minister Rob Henderson says the fund has transformed and helped drive the industry in the seafood sector.
Jerry Bidgood of Prince Edward Aqua Farms says the nearly $100-thousand his company is receiving will be used to help purchase and install automated oyster grading equipment.
He says the company struggles to find enough people to work for the company so the new equipment will be a big help.
