The PEI Federation of Agriculture is the latest to voice concerns about the new US-Mexico-Canada Trade Agreement.
The Federation says the agreement does mean a return to market stability and contains opportunities for Island farmers exporting product to the US and Mexico.
But, it adds that initial analysis of the agreement suggests that Canadian supply managed sectors will be negatively impacted. PEIFA says the slow erosion of the Canadian supply management system will result in the loss of farm family income, and will affect PEI’s rural communities.
