The Charlottetown Islanders came up short in Sydney losing 3-1 to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in the Q.
Brooklyn Kalmikov scored the winner just over 7 minutes into the 2nd period.
Colin Van Den Hurk had the lone Islanders goal.
The Isles are 2-2-1 and visit Rimouski on Wednesday as their four game road trip continues.

The Summerside Western Capitals won their home opener blanking defending MHL champion Edmundston, 6-0. TJ Shea had a big night with 2 goals and 3 assists. Dominik Tmej with 33 saves in the nets.
