Two smaller parties could hold the keys to New Brunswick’s next government following an election that ended in a near dead heat.
Monday night’s vote saw Blaine Higgs and the Progressive Conservatives win 22 seats, while incumbent Brian Gallant and the Liberals took 21.
One UNB political science professor says Gallant is likely to approach the Green Party — which won three seats — in the hopes of forming a tenable coalition. The right-of-centre People’s Alliance also won three seats, and could make a deal with the Tories.
