A 27-year old Summerside man is in custody, accused of a number of weapons offences after an incident Tuesday night on South Drive.
Summerside Police got several calls about a man pointing what appeared to be a rifle at passing vehicles. Police responded, and say the suspect pointed the gun at the approaching police cruiser, seemingly unaware it was the police. He immediately lowered the gun when he appeared to recognize it was the police.
The suspect obeyed the officer’s verbal commands and was taken safely into custody. He’s facing charges that include 3 counts of pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
