PEI’s July tourism numbers show some varied results when compared to 2017.
The number of visitors arriving were close to the record numbers from July 2017 and 2017 year to date. But, total overnight stays, golf rounds, and other key indicators decreased.
Tourism Minister Chris Palmer says that when they started to see signs that July was a bit behind last year, steps were taken to shore-up the rest of the season. He says there was targeted marketing aimed at Islanders and short-haul travelers in the Maritime Provinces.

One area that’s done well in 2018 is the meetings and conventions sector. End-of-August meeting statistics show a 14 percent increase year to date compared to 2017.
