Parents will be able to provide more for their children with an increase in the Child Care Benefit two years earlier than expected.
Cardigan MP and Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay says the benefit is now indexed to the cost of living and will continue to help middle-class families, and those working hard to the join the middle-class.
MacAulay says in his riding alone, families have received over 52-million-dollars with the CCB in the last two years while across PEI, over 200-million dollars has been received.
One Cardigan mother says the extra money helps her with bill payments, groceries, or “extras” such as sports registration, clothes, a family outing or, this month, back to school shopping.
