Ryan Bradley of Stratford can check swimming across the Northumberland Strait off his bucket list. He completed the feat Sunday as he was the only Islander to take part in The Big Swim, an event that raises funds for the Brigadoon Children’s Camp in Nova Scotia.
While the water was calm, the currents presented a challenge and instead of a 15 kilometre swim, Ryan figures he swam about 22 kilometres.
He swam from Cape Jourimain, NB to Chelton Beach in PEI in 7 hours.
Bradley was to swim the Strait in the summer of 2017, but the event was cancelled on swim day because of poor conditions.
