All that heat and humidity we’ve had over the last six weeks was a factor in a wild hail storm that hit Prince County and spread east across the Island on Friday afternoon.
Hail the size of golf balls came down in places like Shamrock and Central Bedeque.
There was heavy rain and wind in Summerside and later in Charlottetown where the power went out in the Queen Street area following thunder and lightning.
Trees came down in several areas as pea-sized hail pelted off buildings, vehicles and a lot of properties.
One large tree came down on University Ave.
Flooding occurred on many streets including Queen and in Victoria Park.
The storm last about 10 minutes but it was severe enough to do some damage.
Then the sun came out again.
