The Guardian Gold Cup & Saucer harness racing series begins tonight at Red Shores in Charlottetown with the first Trial that will feature seven horses.
It goes about 10.30 and you can hear it on Ocean 100 live.
The 5-2 morning line favourite is Somewhere Fancy with Simon Allard driving. Rockin In Heaven with J. Harris is 3-1.
The second Trial is Monday night.
The top four horses from both $12,500 races will advance to next Saturday’s final.
There’s something new for the Gold Cup this year…the winning driver will receive the Mike MacDonald Trophy which will honour the memory of the harness driving great who won the Big race a record five times.
He passed away in July.
