A probe into the death of a young Island rugby player has concluded that safety policies and procedures at the tournament were in compliance.
18-year-old Brodie McCarthy of Montague Regional High collapsed during a rugby tournament at Three Oaks Senior High in Summerside and later died after being transported to hospital in Moncton.
The Department of Education, the Public Schools Branch and the P-E-I School Athletic Association determined the hosts of the tournament were in compliance with safety policies and followed proper procedures after McCarthy’s collapse.
