- Kings County Baseball League action sees the Morell Chevies taking on the Charlottetown Jays tonight at 6:30, along with the Expos facing the Peakes Bombers and the Northiside Brewers up against the Cardigan Clippers. Both those games also go at 6:30 this evening. The Chevies are on top of the league standings with an 11 and 3 record and their Scott Harper is the league leader with his .551 batting average.
- Meanwhile, All-Star shortstop Manny Machado could be headed to Los Angeles today. U-S-A Today reports that the Baltimore Orioles are expected to trade Machado to the Dodgers, barring a last-minute snag. Machado is scheduled to become a free agent after the season.
- And Milwaukee Brewers reliever Josh Hader has taken responsibility for racist and homophobic tweets that resurfaced while he was pitching in the All-Star Game. Some of the tweets that surfaced before Hader locked his account were from 2011 and 2012, though at least one was from 2016 about the shooting of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin.
- It’s one of the biggest trades in Toronto Raptors history. Sources tell The Associated Press that an agreement in principle has been reached to send franchise cornerstone DeMar DeRozan to San Antonio for Kawhi Leonard. Sources say Danny Green is also Toronto-bound while the Spurs will get Jakob Poeltl and a future first-round draft pick.
- The Canadian Championship resumes tonight on the soccer pitch with the opening leg of the semifinals. Defending champion Toronto F-C will visit Ottawa and Montreal is home to Vancouver. The second leg of the total-goal semifinals will be played next week.
