A 39-year-old Charlottetown woman will be in court Thursday on charges relating to the deaths of two babies.
Charlottetown Police have been investigating since March of 2017 after receiving word the accused was expecting in both 2014 and 2016, but neither pregnancy resulted in her having children.
Police say it’s believed both babies were alive at birth but then died sometime later and placed in waste bins. The causes of death will be revealed in court. The infants’ remains have not been found as yet and police are working with Island Waste Management to see if it’s possible to recover the bodies.
The accused currently faces multiple charges of infanticide, failing to seek assistance in child birth, and disposing of the dead body of a child with intent to conceal the fact it had been delivered.
