Summerside’s residential power customers are set to receive a refund on household electricity from the Prince Edward Island government in a program that’s aimed at encouraging people to switch from using oil and other hydrocarbons.
A 10 percent rebate will be applied to the first block _ two thousand kilowatt hours _ of electricity for the Summerside utility’s residential customers.
The refund is to push the switch to electrical energy on the Island, a large portion of which is produced by wind power.
The rebate will continue for up to four years, and is considered to be one of the province’s climate change initiatives
