Interest rates are on the rise, starting Thursday morning.
Customers with loans linked to prime, such as variable rate mortgages and lines of credit, will be paying more as the Big Six banks raise their prime lending rate by a quarter-point to 3.7 per cent.
The move is in step with the Bank of Canada’s decision yesterday to boost its trendsetting overnight lending rate to 1.5 per cent.
