The proposed route for the pipeline that would carry effluent from the Northern Pulp mill into the Northumberland Strait is facing some changes.
A spokesperson for the mill`s owner says a sonar study found ice scouring near the proposed location of the pipeline’s outfall off Pictou. She says that will mean the pipeline may have to go into deeper waters to avoid the ice that scrapes along the ocean bottom.
The effluent plans have been a source of concern, especially for fishers in Nova Scotia and PEI.
