Kings District RCMP report a very busy weekend, which saw them conduct several check stops throughout Kings County.
On Thursday afternoon, a tip about a possible impaired driver on Main Street in Montague resulted in the arrest of a 65 year-old woman. The driver failed a roadside breath screening device test and was subsequently arrested for impaired related charges. She was transported to the Montague RCMP detachment where she provided two breath samples, and each was over twice the legal limit.
Friday at noon on Main Street in Souris, Kings District RCMP responded to a complaint of an erratic driver. A 22 year-old Souria area man failed roadside sobriety tests and a Drug Recognition Evaluator test. He was subsequently charged with impaired driving by drugs.
Friday at 9:30 p.m., a 29 year-old man from Kings County was stopped while driving after police had initially responded to a call of a vehicle in the ditch. As a result, the man was arrested for impaired driving related offences and was taken to the Montague RCMP detachment where he provided two samples of his breath, with each being twice the legal limit.
Friday, at midnight, a vehicle was stopped on the Lorne Valley Road and a 37 year-old woman from Montague showed signs of having had liquor. She failed a roadside breath screening device test, and was arrested for impaired related offences. The woman was taken to Montague RCMP detachment where she provided two samples of her breath, with each being two-and-a-half times the legal limit.
