ISLANDERS DEFENSEMAN PICKED BY ANAHEIM
Charlottetown Islanders defenseman Hunter Drew was taken by the Anaheim Ducks in the 6th round of the NHL Draft in Dallas. Drew was chosen 178th overall.
The Kingston, Ontario native had 8 goals and 39 points in 64 games for the Islanders last season.
Summerside’s Jeremy McKenna went undrafted but the Moncton Wildcats forward has been invited to the Arizona Coyotes development camp which begins today.
Noah Dobson of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan was picked 12th overall by the NY Islanders on Friday.
Los Angeles signed veteran Ilya Kovalchuk to a 3 year contract for $18.7 million. The 35-year old has 816 points in 816 career games but hasn’t played in the NHL for 6 seasons.

Calgary sent Dougie Hamilton, Michael Ferland and Harvard hopeful Adam Fox to Carolina for Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifan.

Steve Pearce hit a 3-run homer in the 9th as the Toronto Blue Jays stopped the Anaheim Angels, 4-1.
The Jays received a return outing from pitcher Marcus Stroman who was out since May 8th.
Toronto had lost 10 of its previous 11 road games.
The Jays have put Aaron Sanchez on the 10-day D.L with a right finger contusion.
