An Island education and community development centre says the province needs to do more to protect the rights of migrant workers.
Paola Soto with the Cooper Institute in Charlottetown says hundreds of workers come to PEI from different countries each year.
He says migrant workers are vulnerable to abuse and exploitation because of things like language barriers, isolation, and lack of access to assistance and information about their rights.
Soto added the government can reduce these gaps by enhancing services and applying labour laws to offer equal conditions for all workers in the province.
