An investigation by the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team, has determined that no charges are warranted in the case of an RCMP officer who used a firearm in making an arrest in the Souris area last December.
The SIRT report determined that the officer was justified in firing three shots at the legs of the suspect he was attempting to arrest at his home. The investigation determined that the officer was facing death or grievous bodily harm, and the force used was reasonable and not excessive.
The suspect did suffer a minor injury in the incident.
