The PEI Fishermen’s Association says there’s confusion and frustration among Island lobster fishers about the prices they’re getting paid this spring.
The PEIFA points to favourable factors like the U-S exchange rate, lower tariffs on lobster in the European Economic Union and additional live holding capacity — but it says prices being paid to harvesters are comparable to those in 2002.
The Association says the current trends are a concern and there’s been no reasonable explanations for the price decreases.
