VEGAS TAKES 3-1 SERIES LEAD
The expansion Las Vegas Golden Knights are just a win away from the Stanley Cup final.
Reilly Smith got the winner just over 7 minutes left in the 3rd as the Golden Knights edged the Winnipeg Jets, 3-2. Vegas takes a 3-1 series lead into Winnipeg on Sunday afternoon.
The Jets tied the score 2-2 on goal by Tyler Myers just 6 minutes into the 3rd.
Patrik Laine also connected on a power play.
William Karlsson and Thomas Nosek had the other goals for the Knights who have won the last three games in the Western final.

Washington at Tampa Bay in the Game 5 of the Eastern final tonight. It’s tied, 2-2 and the road team has won all four games.

The host Regina Pats won the opener of the 100th Memorial Cup, 3-2 over the Hamilton Bulldogs. It was the Pats first game since April 2nd when they got knocked out of the WHL playoffs. Nick Henry scored the game winner on a rebound with 33 seconds left.
Highly touted Robert Thomas gave Hamilton a 1-0 lead and the teams were tied 2-2 for most of the 3rd.

The Toronto Blue Jays held a pre-game meeting to try to get back on track but lost 3-1 to the hot Oakland A’s.
Rookie Dustin Fowler homered and doubled in a run for the Athletics. Toronto has lost 10 of 14 and fall a game under .500 (22-23).
The Baltimore Orioles ended a 13-game losing streak on the road as they dropped the Boston Red Sox, 7-4.
Manny Machado had 3 hits and 3 RBIs.

Mookie Betts cracked his 14th home run for Boston.
Whit Merrifield had 3 hits, stole 3 bases and scored 2 runs as the Kansas City Royals won 5-2 over the New York Yankees. Salvador Perez also hit a homer and drove in 3 runs. C.C. Sabathia (2-1) took the loss.
Tampa Bay made it 5 straight wins with an 8-3 romp over the Angels. Wilson Ramos had 2 home runs and 3 RBIs.
Houston over Cleveland, 4-1. Charlie Morton pitched the win. The Indians are 21-22 but still lead the A.L. Central.
St. Louis rocked Philadelphia, 12-4. Jose Martinez had 4 hits and 5 RBIs.
