This is Emergency Preparedness Week on the Island.
This afternoon at 1.55 the PEI Emergency Measures Organization will have its first test alert on the new national system that will signal any major emergencies that could occur.
Messages to come through mobile devices, local radio and TV and through social media.
The Island’s Justice and Public Safety Minister Jordan Brown says communication of important messages during an emergency is very important.
Islanders should also have an emergency kit and supplies for 72 hours if a disaster like a hurricane, extreme winter weather or major power outages occur.
