P-E-I’s chief public health officer confirms the highly potent opioid, fentanyl, is on the Island.
Dr. Heather Morrison says Charlottetown Police confirms the presence of fentanyl in cocaine it seized.
Fentanyl is 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine and has caused accidental overdoses and death in individuals who consume street drugs.
Morrison is asking anyone who uses street drugs to reduce the risks by carrying naloxone and informing others who may use drugs that naloxone is available.
