- The Toronto Blue Jays split a doubleheader with Cleveland. Jose Ramirez hit a two-run homer in Cleveland’s 13-4 victory in the night game. Toronto won the opener 13-11 in extras following a near two-hour rain delay.
- Major League Baseball is heading overseas. The league intends to announce next week that the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will play two games in London next year.
- The Hamilton Tiger-Cats went with Central Michigan receiver and dual citizen Mark Chapman with the first overall pick of the C-F-L draft. Montreal took offensive lineman Trey Rutherford with the second selection.
