Visitor restrictions continue on Unit 8 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The restrictions, which have been in place since Monday, were reassessed Wednesday and several patients are still experiencing symptoms of gastro-intestinal illness and influenza.
Unit 8 is a general medical and acute stroke unit and the visitor restrictions are meant to curb the spread of the two illnesses.
Health PEI says it’s extremely important everyone coming to the hospital, including visitors and persons coming in for tests, x-rays or ambulatory procedures, clean their hands before and after entering a patient’s room, a department, and upon entering and leaving the facility. Alcohol hand rinse stations are available throughout the hospital.
The situation will be reassessed Monday morning.
