The Island Storm season is over. Halifax dropped the Storm, 120-103 to win the first round series in the NBL basketball playoffs, three games to one at the Eastlink Centre.
Tyrone Waton led the Canes with 26 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists.
Franklin Session had 24 points for the Storm.

Serge Ibaka had 23 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Toronto Raptors over the Washington Wizards, 114-106 in the opening game in the NBA playoffs.

The Boston Bruins routed the Toronto Maple Leafs, 7-3 to take a 2-0 lead in the first round of the NHL playoffs. David Pastrnak became the youngest player to score 6 points in a post season game. He had 3 goals and 3 assists. Brad Marchand added 4 assists.
The Bruins struck for 4 goals in the 1st. Game 3 Monday in Toronto.
Tampa Bay had a 4 goals 2nd and got by New Jersey, 5-3 to take a 2-0 series lead. Alex Killorn scored twice.
Nashville is up 2-0 with a 5-4 edging of Colorado. Ryan Hartman with the game winner.
San Jose trimmed Anaheim, 3-2 and has 2-0 series lead. Tomas Hertl scored the game winner early in the 2nd.
The Stanley Cup made a surprise visit to the 10 survivors still in hospital from the fatal Humboldt Broncos bus crash on April 6th.

Islander Nolan O’Rourke has won the National Under 18 Wrestling championship in his weight division. The 15 year old won all 5 of his matches in Edmonton to claim the title.

Canadian Brooke Henderson won her 6th LPGA tour event taking the Lotte Championship n Hawaii. Henderson dedicated her victory to the victims of the April 6th Humboldt Broncos bus crash. Canadian golfers and caddies wore green and gold ribbons during the tournament. Henderson, just 20, is only two victories shy of Sandra Post’s record of 8 wins for Canadians on the LPGA. Henderson had a final round 3-under 67 and won by 4 shots. She earned $300,000 and has a $500,00 in earnings this season.

Stormy weather in the mid-west led to some postponments on Saturday. Toronto at Cleveland, New York at Detroit and Chicago at Minnesota were all rained out. Sunday’s Jays and Indians game also postponed due to rain.
The Boston Red Sox improved to 12-2 with a 10-3 romp over Baltimore at Fenway. Hanley Ramirez and J.D. Martinez homered. Ramirez and Andrew Benintendi drove in 3 runs each. Rightfielder Mookie Betts left the game in the 1st inning suffering a left foot contusion sliding home. X-Rays were negative but Betts is in on the 10-day D.L.
The Chicago Cubs came back from 10-5 deficit to score 9 runs in the 8th and drop the Atlanta Braves, 14-10. Javier Baez had a 3-run double in the big inning. Chicago scored 12 runs in the last three innings on a cold, rainy and windy day at Wrigley Field.
Max Scherzer had 11 strikeouts as Washington snapped a 3 game losing skid and beat Colorado, 6-2. Scherzer retired the last 30 Rockies batters.
