There are 14 fatalities and 14 injured after the Humboldt Broncos bus was involved in a collision with a tractor trailer in rural Saskatchewan.
The horrific crash took place Friday evening as the Humboldt team was on its way to play the Nipawin Hawks in the fifth game of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League semi-finals.
The crash occurred about 30 kilometres north of Tisdale, Saskatchewan.
One report says the tractor-trailer t-boned the bus.
There were 28 people on board the bus including the driver.
The RCMP has not confirmed if the deceased were players or coaches. Three of injured are in critical condition.
Broncos President Kevin Garinger says they are in “utter disbelief and shock at the loss that’s fallen upon us.”
Condolences are being made on social media including the Summerside Western Capitals Jr. A team and their General Manager Pat McIver. Also the Charlottetown Islanders have sent out a Tweet.
Other Islanders like Doug MacLean and David Ling and Hockey PEI also offering condolences.
