Centre Thomas Casey started and finished the job for the Charlottetown Islanders who edged the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, 4-3 in a long 11 round shootout in the Q.
Casey put the Isles on the board in the 1st period and scored the eventual shootout winner.
Taylor Egan and Cameron Askew also scored for Charlottetown who are heading into the final week of the regular season.

The Acadie-Bathurst Titan took over first place in the Maritimes with a 3-2 win over Halifax. Summerside defenseman Noah Dobson had an assist for the Titan who lead the Mooseheads by 2 points.
Summerside’s Jeremy McKenna scored his 34th and 35th goals helping Moncton to a 6-4 win over Saint John.

The Summerside Western Capitals determined their first round playoff opponent with a 5-2 win at Miramichi which knocked the Timberwolves into 4th place in the North in the Maritime Junior League. Summerside will play third place Campbellton in the first round beginning Thursday night at the Eastlink Arena.
Kallum Muirhead scored twice while TJ Shea and Brodie MacArthur had singles.
Shea won the scoring championship with 43 goals and 105 points.
MacArthur was second with 29 goals and 89 points.

The Charlottetown Pride got back into the PEI Major Midget finals holding off the Kensington Wild, 3-2.
Cole Larkin’s power play goal stood up as the winner in the second period as the Pride took a 3-0 lead.
The Wild cut the margin to 3-2 later in the second.
Game 4 is in Charlottetown on Wednesday night.

Patrik Laine got his 40th but it was not enough as Winnipeg fell 2-1 to Philadelphia.
The Nashville Predators 10 game winning streak is over. The Preds lost 3-2 to New Jersey.

Brad Gushue’s Canada rink dropped John Epping of Ontario, 6-2 to advance to the Tim Horton’s Bier final in Regina.
Epping will meet Brendan Bottcher of Alberta in the semi-final.

Canadian Corey Conners leads the PGA Valspar Championship by a stroke entering the final round in Palm Harbor, Florida after a 68. Tiger Woods had a 67. He’s in a three-way tie for second place.
