Premier Wade MacLauchlan used his State of the Province address to Rotary Monday night to highlight our growing economy.
To show its growth, he quoted our rising GDP numbers, rising workforce numbers, and a population reaching the 152-thousand number for the first time.
Breaking the population figures down even further, MacLauchlan said we’ve been one of the few provinces that’s been able to get younger. Last year, PEI was one of only three provinces to see its population get younger.
He says providing the workforce for the growing economy is one challenge that we face, but one that can be met. MacLauchlan says we can do so by talking with each other, especially to our young people — encouraging them that their future can be here in PEI.
