The UPEI men’s hockey Panthers are getting hot at the right time of the year. Last night the injury riddled Panthers stunned the Acadia Axemen, 6-3 in what could have a been a playoff preview.

Dalhousie stayed tied with UPEI for 5th place in the AUS with a 7-3 wn over St. F.X. That’s 7 wins in 10 games for the Tigers. Dal enjoyed a four goal 3rd.

The women’s Panthers outlasted St. Thomas, 2-1 in a shootout to end a six game losing streak. Sydnee Baker connected with the winner.

Daniel Hardie scored twice and P.O. Joseph added three assists as the Charlottetown Islanders stopped the Sea Dogs, 5-2 in Saint John in the Q. The Isles led 5-0 before Sea Dogs got on the board in the 2nd.

Moncton over first place Halifax, 5-1. Summerside’s Jeremy McKenna had 2 assists.

Campbellton skated past the Summerside Western Capitals, 5-1 in the Maritime Jr. League. Pierre-Luc Lurette with two goals and two assists for the Tigers.
Chris Chaddock had the only Caps goal and the league’s top scorer T. J. was held pointless.

In the NHL, Pittsburgh over Washington, 7-4. Alex Ovechkin got his league leading 31st and 32nd goals for the Capitals. Evgeni Malkin and Phil Kessel scored twice each for the Penguins.
Detroit 4 Carolina 1.The Hurricanes led 1-0 before the Red Wings came back.
San Jose got by Columbus, 3-1. Logan Couture with a goal and assist for the Sharks.
Minnesota stopped Las Vegas, 5-2. Eric Staal had two goals for the Wild handing the Golden Knights just their 17th loss in 51 games.
