Armed with more than 15 years of data, the Maritime Provinces Higher Education Commission has released a study into retention rates of graduates two years after completing their first degree.
Results from the Class of 2014 survey show that PEI retained 59% of its graduates after two years. New Brunswick retained 57%, and Nova Scotia 54%.
Over the last fifteen years, the rate has remained steady for Prince Edward Island. Over the same time period, however, Nova Scotia saw a drop of seven percentage points.
Officials say the study is important because it exposes migration patterns among the region’s graduates, demonstrating that a graduate’s original is a strong determinant in whether they will live two years following graduation.
