2017 was another record-breaking year for the Charlottetown Airport.
When the numbers were tallied, more than 370-thousand passengers travelled through the Charlottetown Airport in 2017, which is 4.6% more than in 2016.
Charlottetown Airport CEO, Doug Newson says the increase in traffic came in the summer months as May, June, July, August and September all saw significant increases compared to 2016.
Newson says it’s the second straight year of significant growth, and the 17% increase since 2015 can largely be attributed to PEI’s strong tourism industry. But he also points to the increased capacity with Air Canada. This past summer Air Canada operated larger planes than ever at Charlottetown Airport.
