A 26 year-old man tried to flee the scene of an accident Christmas Eve but he was apprehended about an hour later by Police dog Services.
Queens District RCMP say there was a single vehicle collision in Riverdale Sunday night and the vehicle left the road, striking a number of trees before coming to rest in the ditch off Route #1. The driver had run off.
The man was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking after approximately 2,000 methamphetamine pills were seized from both the vehicle and from the man himself.
He’s been in custody and will stay there until a court appearance in January. The investigation is ongoing.
As an officer who sees the devastation drugs can bring to a community, A/Cpl. Mintie of Queens District RCMP would like to remind the public that methamphetamine is produced in make-shift laboratories where there are no safety standards for the production of these drugs.
He says drug traffickers are not concerned about the toxic chemicals that are used to produce methamphetamine and people are taking a risk when consuming them.
Use of methamphetamine can lead to abuse and dependency problems.
