A couple more weeks of cold temperatures could actually help in the recovery of a 42 year-old man who jumped from the Hillsborough Bridge Christmas night around 8:30.
RCMP and their Underwater Recovery Team out of New Brunswick have been stalled in beginning the search for the man because of conditions in that area.
Staff Sergeant Shane Hubley says the divers need a platform to work off and that normally would be a boat.
However, Hubley says they can’t get a boat in the water right now because divers would need the ice to sustain the weight of the boat along with the heavy equipment and it’s just not thick enough do that right now.
Hubley says if the ice were to get thicker in some spots, they would be able to cut a whole in the ice and divers could use it as a platform as well.
He says the trouble in that area is the water is constantly moving and rough.
