Charlottetown’s mayor is firing at opposition parties and one government member regarding statements made in the Legislative Assembly in during discussions on the Water Act.
Mayor Clifford Lee released a statement Wednesday expressing his disappointment with PC MLA Steven Myers, Green Party MLAs Peter Bevan-Baker and Hannah Bell, and Charlottetown Liberal government member Bush Dumville.
Mayor Lee says statements from those members centered around the City of Charlottetown and its water usage and he called it absurd for them to suggest outlying communities are carrying a risk for the benefit of Charlottetown.
Lee says all three political parties missed the boat in recognizing the tremendous gains and improvements the City of Charlottetown has made regarding its water usage and conservation.
The Mayor says the city is drawing water at an extraction rate equal to that of 17 years ago and considering the population growth since 2000, Charlottetown is doing something right.
