The RCMP is asking you to slow down when you’re behind the wheel and approaching a scene where there are police and/or other first responders.
The warning was prompted by an incident Wednesday morning in Stratford. At 4:30 a.m. RCMP responded to a call of a vehicle that had gone off Highway #1 and went into the ditch. No one was injured, but as police and a tow truck were on scene with their emergency lights flashing, a passing vehicle slammed into one of the police cruisers as the driver never slowed the vehicle and lost control on the icy conditions.
Fortunately, no one was injured but police say that had the vehicle not struck the cruiser, it may have hit one of the police officers or the tow truck operator.
