RCMP have issued an update with more details on that Monday afternoon incident in Rollo Bay which resulted in one man being injured.
Kings District RCMP say a 33 year-old man was taken to hospital with a gun shot wound to his leg following the altercation with a Mountie.
Police say they responded to a complaint around 2:40 p.m. of a possible impaired driver in the Souris area. An officer then went to a Rollo Bay residence to follow up with an investigation into the complaint.
That’s when the altercation took place and the RCMP officer was allegedly physically assaulted by the 33 year-old.
The Mountie discharged his service pistol and wounded the Rollo Bay man, who was taken by ambulance to hospital with what police say was a non-life threatening wound to his leg. The police officer was also transported to hospital for medical treatment and has since been released.
The RCMP Major Crime Unit has taken over the investigation into the matter and the Serious Incident Response Team from Nova Scotia will be conducting a thorough and objective investigation to determine what took place.
