Well-being teams are helping students in the Montague and Westisle families of schools.
The teams help with a variety of issues such as dealing with anxiety, improving attendance, and managing diabetes or eating disorders.
Education Minister Jordan Brown says the teams were set up after district advisory councils asked for more mental health supports in schools.
Meetings are taking place this week to plan for teams in the Bluefield, Colonel Gray, Souris, and Morell families of schools next year. Once they’re in place in all Island schools over the next couple of years, provincial funding will be about $5-million per year.
