The Opposition would like to see an all-party, special legislative committee created to consult Islanders in creating the regulations to the water Act.
Opposition Leader James Aylward says the proposal would ensure that public concerns are reflected in the development of the Water Act regulations.
He says that, typically, regulations to legislation are written by Cabinet behind closed doors. But Aylward says that with the importance of the Water Act for current and future generations, he thinks that Government should be prepared to think outside the box and look at new approaches.
