Funding has been announced for North Rustico’s scenic waterfront which should help with tourism growth and economic development.
All three levels of government will contribute with new work that will soon begin to protect the existing infrastructure and make the seawalk area even more appealing to tourists.
Federal MP Wayne Easter and PEI’s Rural and Regional Development Minister Pat Murphy were on hand for the funding announcement last week.
ACOA is providing a non-repayable contribution of over $289,000 to the project.
$122,000 coming from the Department of Heritage.
$25,000 from the province.
The community of North Rustico is putting $70,000 from the gas tax into the project.
$64,000 has been raised by local donations.
