With a growing number of newcomers in PEI’s education system and classrooms, the province is adding more than 40 new teachers and support educators.
The provincial government will invest $2.8 million each year to hire 41 educators to meet the growing needs of English as an Additional Language students, and free up teachers and resources.
Education Minister Jordan brown says the new investment will help all students and teachers, because it will reduce class size and address classroom composition challenges.
The new positions will be targeted in Charlottetown and Stratford schools to reflect the growth experienced by these communities.
