There are some concerning results in last spring’s provincial assessment, with significant declines in some aspects of language skills.
The results show that only 48 per cent of Grade 3 English students meet expectations in writing.
In regards to Grade 3 French immersion, 49 per cent of students meet expectations, which is down significantly from last year’s 68 per cent.
With Grade 6 reading and writing, 64 per cent of students are meeting expectations in both those areas, with both down from 82 per cent in 2016.
One significant increase was with Grade 5 French immersion writing, as now 59 per cent of students are meeting expectations, up from 39 per cent last year.
