There were new Census figures released by Statistics Canada on Wednesday, and they dealt with indigenous population.
Those figures show that there was a 58.1 per cent increase in the Indigenous population on P.E.I. from 2006 to 2016.
That’s a greater rate of increase than we saw nationally, as it stood at 42.5 per cent.
In PEI, just 2.0 per cent of Islanders identify as being Indigenous.
4.9 per cent of Canadians are Indigenous.
