The Greater Charlottetown Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will honour technology entrepreneur, Jamie Hill, with the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the Chamber’s President’s Excellence Awards on November 15th.
The award recognizes the accomplishments and the entrepreneurial spirit of an individual in the community. Individuals were nominated by Chamber members, and the Chamber’s Executive Committee selects the winner.
Hill started a call centre business before the need was obvious to most in the technology sector. In 1985, he co-founded On-Line Support (OLS), a consulting firm specializing in information technology. Over the next 8 years, the company grew to 20 consultants completing projects in the Maritimes and Ontario. From 1998 to 2000, OLS continued to grow to more than 430 employees. In 2000, Jamie divested his majority share of OLS but remained on the board of directors.
