A popular man who was involved in the sports community for years in Summerside passed away last Thursday.
Paul Gallant was 60 and was best known as the P.A. voice at the forrmer Cahill Stadium for Summerside Western Capitals hockey games and for other teams.
He was the scheduling coordinator for the City of Summerside in recent years.
Gallant was also a strong volunteer and took part in that capacity for every national and international softball tournament and other sports.
He also was a softball and baseball umpire and
even the official scorer for the PEI Senators AHL hockey team in the mid-90’s.
He had been ill for several weeks before his passing.
Friend and colleague Roger Ahern says Gallant was the heart and soul of Credit Union Place when it opened.
