Tourism figures released Thursday by the Provincial Government suggest PEI’s tourism industry didn’t lose any steam in August, heading for a record year.
Every Prince Edward Island museum and historic site saw more visitation this year than in 2016.
Passenger traffic at the Charlottetown Airport was up nearly 12-per cent over August 2016, while Confederation Bridge and Notthumberland ferries traffic numbers were also up.
Room-nights sold increased 3.6 per cent; site-nights sold at local campgrounds were up 12.7 per cent;
cruise ship passengers increased by 77.7 per cent; and the PEI National Park and Green Gables Heritage Place saw increases of 44.9 and 34.8 per cent respectively.
