The University of Prince Edward Island is mourning the passing of Father Francis Bolger.
The Reverend died of a heart attack at his home at the age of 92 on Thursday.
He was widely considered the Dean of Island Island.
UPEI historian Ed MacDonald says Father Bolger was a kind of cultural icon on PEI.
He was born in Stanley Bridge in July, 1925 and served many years at St. Dunstan’s and then UPEI.
His course on Island history brought acclaim for his work.
He was also an avid fan of the hockey teams at the university.
Many of his students called him a very influential teacher.
