Prince Edward Island’s population has met its target of 150,000 people by the end of 2017, the first time in history that it has reached that milestone.
In a new national report, Statistics Canada suggests the province’s population to be 152,021 as of July 2017, an increase of 1.7 percent over July 1, 2016.
Premier Wade MacLauchlan says that PEI’s Population Action Plan is working and the province is well on its way to building a diverse population of 160,000 people by the end of 2022.
